IOTA NanoSolutions to present at “Utilisation and Production of Nanoparticles in Pharmaceuticals” , 8 September 2008, Belgium
We are pleased to announce that Professor Steve Rannard, CSO, IOTA NanoSolutions Ltd, will be presenting at the “UTILISATION AND PRODUCTION OF NANOPARTICLES IN PHARMACEUTICALS” Symposium, 8 September 2008, Hotel Silken Berlaymont, Brussels, Belgium.
The event organised by Informa Life Sciences is a pre-conference Nanoparticle symposium which will be held in association with “Particle Design for APIs and Drug Products”, 9-10 September 2008, Belgium, which IOTA NanoSolutions will also be attending.
The presentation by Professor Rannard entitled “Advances in Non-Attrition Approaches to API Nanoparticles” will detail IOTA NanoSolutions generic approach to nanoparticle formation. Results of nanodispersion formation will be discussed for materials with a range of solubilities, melting points and crystalline/amorphous properties. In addition, in-vivo, ex-vivo and in-vitro application data from IV and Oral formulations using nanodispersions formed using this approach will be described in overview.
Conference Producer Lara Edmondson commented: “Without leading innovators such as IOTA NanoSolutions moving the way forward in particle engineering, the pharmaceutical industry would not benefit from new technologies such as nanoparticles.”

Earlier this year Professor Rannard was an invited speaker at the Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC’s) Industry Connect event held in the Liverpool Maritime Museum, Thursday 17th January. Industry Connect, held 3 times a year involves presentations from local small companies and the chance to network with the chemical science community in the local area. As a co-founder of IOTA NanoSolutions, Professor Rannard was invited to speak about his experiences in setting up a small company.
The event, attended by almost 100 delegates, was well received and the RSC’s Industry Specialist Heather McFarlane commented; “This is the first time we have brought RSC Industry Connect to Liverpool. The audience found hearing the experiences of IOTA NanoSolutions both informative and enjoyable, especially as nanotechnology is such a competitive, topical and leading edge technology area”
